Rose Parade

I love watching the Rose Parade. I do it every year. My grandparents used to live in Pasadena and while we never actually went to see the parade in person, we did go and see the floats. They leave them out for people to see for a couple of days. They smell SO good! The picture is my favorite float from 2007's parade. They don't have too many pictures online yet of today's parade.

I don't know whether it is because I haven't lived in California for almost 20 years but there was something I didn't get. I saw so many people wearing scarves, coats, and hats. Uh, I know it wasn't up to the projected high of 75 (SEVENTY-FIVE, PEOPLE!) degrees yet. Seriously, though. How can they be that cold? I was out painting today in our garage (a projected high of 18 today) and not even I was as bundled up as some of these people. They don't know how good they have it there. We're out here walking uphill everywhere with snow up to our waist.*

Happy New Year!

*All in good fun, people.

  1. When we were in the Philippines we went up to the mountains where it got down to 70 degrees and we were cold. You acclimate to where you live.

  2. I went to the Rose Parade a couple of times (my brothers marched in it) and it actually was cold in the morning. Not coat and hat and scarf cold, but we always wore sweatshirts and those small knit gloves.

And you're right - the floats do smell so good!

  4. We went to the Rose Parade once. It was so much fun. I'm amazed by how they do those floats. You are right, they smell so nice. I'll never forget that experience.

I love the Rose Parade too! My dad actually lives in an apartment ON the route now, so last year we got to watch the parade from his front lawn! It was awesome! And yes, it was funny how bundled up people were- but that SO used to be me. I can laugh now that I'm a big tough Nebraskan. :)

Ah, the weather. It just depends on what you're used to! Lately it's been 47 here and for us that's COLD. (Also, there's a reason I don't live in snow country! Brr..)
