Random Blog Stuff

These are courtesy of Melessa. I decided to blow off some steam after the knit-off. My victory was indeed confirmed while I was sleeping last night.

You Are Miss Piggy

A total princess and diva, you're totally in charge - even if people don't know it.
You want to be loved, adored, and worshiped. And you won't settle for anything less.
You're going to be a total star, and you won't let any of the "little people" get in your way.
Just remember, piggy, never eat more than you can lift!

Nobody that knows me should be surprised about this one. I had Miss Piggy sheets and even a sweater with Miss Piggy on it when I was younger. I often tell people that the celebrity couple that Carl and I most resemble would be Kermit and Miss Piggy. It's true.

Now, for the visual DNA. I thought this was so interesting. It was really fun to do. Please leave me a comment if you decide to do this and put it up on your blog. I'd love to see what other people choose!

Christy - I accidentally showed my daughter your scarf and she got excited, saying that she wants me to make her one. Well, at 16, she has never asked me to knit her something so I am going out to buy the yarn tomorrow. Of course, speed will not be anywhere near your level. How many hours did it take you anyway?
One question: I think I can follow the pattern pretty easily but what is the MC yarn on the bobbin for? For the blocking at the end? If so, why 10 yards when the blocking instructions call for about 5 yards?
    Thanks,
    Jane

  7. Jane- The bobbin is so you don't have to carry the main color of yarn across the rows where you are using your contrast color. You only have to do three stitches on each row with the yarn from your bobbin. If you haven't done color work before (intarsia or even fair isle) it might take you a little while to get the hang of switching colors and making sure you don't get any holes. Good luck! It took me around 12 hours of straight knitting to complete it.

Thanks Christy. I get it now.
I am going to go for it, even though I have not done intarsia or fair isle. As I said, my daughter has never asked me to make anything so I am thrilled. I will hit my yarn store as soon as I can and then be prepared for more of my questions!
    Thank you,
    Jane
PS - I love your blog, I check it everyday, but I LOVE it when you have knitting content.
