My Big Apple turned one today. She's such a big girl. She can walk forwards, backwards, and upstairs. She has yet to master going down the stairs. We're working on it. She can make noises like chickens and bears and will point to her nose about 75% of the time when we ask her. She claps and stomps in just the right places when Frog sings, "When You're Happy and You Know It". During "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" she can successfully identify head and toes. The rest gets kind of lost in the moment. She will giggle all day, eat french fries like it's nobody's business, and dance on command. She's busting out of her 12 month wardrobe and is sporting size 4/5 shoes. We love her so much and can't imagine our lives without her. *I thank God EVERYDAY for her birth family and the decision they were able to make that allowed her to be our little girl*
And now, for the pictures. Hollie and Mckenzie from Still Dreaming of Destin came over to celebrate. We were there for Mckenzie's first birthday on Sunday. Anita, the Cabbage Patch Baby joined the family. She's got pigtails just like BA. Frog loves to "smile" for the camera now. This is what we get every time we ask him to smile!
And now, for the cake. I made cupcakes (yellow w/ chocolate frosting--my favorite) and she's got her own birthday plate (I have one for Frog, too). She started off not too messy.
But, it didn't last long.
Happy Birthday Big Apple! We love you.

Ohhh, thanks for sharing these lovely photos - Big Apple obviously had a great time! Happy, happy birthday to your little one!
ReplyDeleteWow! I can't believe it has already been a year. She is so beautiful! Give her a birthday hug and kiss from us.
ReplyDeleteI found my cabbage patch dolls in the attic, one of them looks like Caleb. They're at Mom's house now if you want them. They sure are cute...When are you coming to Oklahoma anyways?
ReplyDeleteLoser-We won't be back in Oklahoma for a while. But, I'm seriously considering your offer of paying your gas to come up here for a few days. Are you still willing?
ReplyDeleteIt's looks like BA and Whitney struck the same pose for their picture!! So cute! We ended up having the meeting get cancelled but Whitney was sleeping right on through your party :( Looks like it was fun!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Eva! I can't believe its been a year already. She sounds like a keeper. Bruce and I were looking at your photos together and Bruce said, "hey, that's Caleb! He's my friend!"

It's hard for me to think of your kids with their real names. I was reading and thinking Eva? Who is Eva? ;-)
ReplyDeleteTwo sweet girls so close together (Whitney) and both with lovely pony tales. Awww.
Her lips are to die for.

Bek,
ReplyDeleteI call her Big Apple sometimes during the day! But, yeah...Eva (pronounced Ava--she's hispanic so I got to use my Spanish skills) is her real name. If you've seen Evita---that's how we got her blog name. "She wants to be a part of B.A. Buenos Aires Big Apple!"
Quilty--mine had the nourishing balm, too! Now that I've had them for a while I think Uplifting is my favorite. I'm a big fan of citrus.
Because I'm totally immature, I think of mooning people whenever I read BA. I've already told Christy what SD reminds me of. :)

That was a fun party, I'm glad you didn't puke. Happy Birthday Eva! You showed that cupcake who was boss!
ReplyDeleteSo, what does SD, other than Sugar Daddy, stand for?
Hollie-it's from a book we've read called Angus, Thongs, and Full-frontal Snogging. You would love that book! Anyway, this girl is in love w/ a boy she calls a Sex God (SG for short). Now, when Catherine reads about SD, she can't help but think about SG.
