Talk About Tuesday

Today I'm going to talk about an organized coat closet. Summer is the perfect time to organize the coat closet because most of us (in the US, at least) won't be using our coats and other winter gear for a while. My favorite thing about my coat closet is the shoe organizer I repurposed for gloves, mittens, hats, and scarves. I got it at Target in the $1 spot. Before I had a basket full of these things that we always had to dig through to find what we needed. My hallway was tight so I couldn't fit the whole organizer in the shot but there are six compartments. The first two are for Carl, the next two are for me, and the bottom two are for the kids.

On the shelf above the coats, we have 2 bags and some of Carl's hats that he rarely wears. These are our temple bags. It is always packed and I always know where it is.

The bottom of the coat closet has a box filled with a MarbleWorks game (it has to stay hidden or else the parts are ALWAYS dumped on the floor), some bags and a box of batteries.

The rest of my house may not be organized, but at least I've got a handle on the coat closet!

That looks so good. One closet at a time.... I wish my coat closet looked as well organized. My organizing efforts will be focused elsewhere for now.

  3. Those shoe organizers are great for repurposing (I turned one into a diaper changing dealio). Way to go on the organizing. (What I really want to see is how you've organized your knitting stash - mine is a mess)

  4. That's a great idea for your gloves and mittens! I wouldn't have thought of that. When we lived in a different house and had a separate closet, we used one of those over-the-door hanging shoe racks, and then when they're wet you can clothes-pin them to the outside until they dry. Right now they just get thrown in a basket, except that it's summer, so they're living there collecting dust!

  5. Ugh, our coat closet is in need of an overhaul! Yours looks good--does it make you feel better to know that ours is only 3/4 as big as yours?!
