Halloween is probably my least favorite holiday. I don't know what it is about it but it could be that it has no purpose. Anyone care to extol the virtues of Halloween for me in the comments?
In honor of Halloween, I left the kids with my mom this morning and went shopping. I bought myself a book and a hoodie. I also got some birthday presents for my brothers so I can give them to them when I go to their house tomorrow. I haven't had a popcorn ball yet.
I guess Halloween isn't all bad.
I forgot to mention that gas is $1.99 a gallon here. I'm sure loving that!

Just like you don't know what it is you don't like about Halloween, there's just something I can't name about it that I love. I guess I just always really liked dressing up as a kid. And I like the absurdity of getting candy for free. (Although, I guess as a parent it's not absolutely free - I had to pay for the candy that I'm giving out.) There's something I love about walking around at night trick-or-treating, talking with the neighbors, sneaking pieces of candy. And I love the smell of candles in pumpkins. I love Halloween.
ReplyDeleteI think my least favorite holiday is Columbus day or anything like that, where the kids are out of school for no apparent reason.
ReplyDeleteI happen to like Halloween, but the virtues??
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned buying a book, but didn't say which one. So, fill us in! Or is it the kind of book your mom would buy and put a book cover on (oh, internet, probably not what you think at all).
I'm totally in the Halloween-is-my-least-favorite-holiday club. It's such a pain to have to dress up and then you have all this candy sitting around. I could so live without it. (And I'm not being sarcastic!)
ReplyDeleteI love Halloween, it's wicked awesome! I LOVE it! I also love that Mckenzie is getting more into it each year.
