Gay Pair-EE!
Carl is leaving for France on Friday. Maybe. His passport isn't here yet. He sent it off well enough in advance (according to the government) but it is still not here. He has been calling everyday these past couple of weeks telling them to HURRY UP! We'll see how that goes.
Carl also ordered a phone that he can use overseas. It has a UK number and a 1-800 number that I can use to call him for free for the first 45 minutes. This is something he didn't do far enough in advance so now he has to pay expedited shipping to get it before he leaves.
I'm pretty sure he is going to have a lot of fun even though this is a work trip. He's going to bring me back something but doesn't know what.
If your husband was going to France, leaving you at home alone with the kids for 12 days, what would you want him to bring back for you?

A ticket to Hawaii or Vegas or someplace where you can get some R and R. :) Actually I don't know what France is famous for except wine. Carl is thoughtful and should come up with something good!
ReplyDeleteWe have a friend here who had to go to Canada for business. He didn't get his passport in time either, but still got to go. They said something to us about how the border security had to accommodate people who didn't get passports in time. Maybe that was just for Canada though since it's the 51st state, right? Still his customs experiences were a nightmare.
ReplyDeleteI'd have him bring me home a fancy perfume. I knew a girl in college that had a really nice smelling one that was called aielle (I don't know the correct spelling.) It smelled so nice. I've wanted some of that kind ever since. She said there isn't anywhere in the US where you could by it, just over there.
ReplyDeleteWhen Carl came home from his mission, that is what I asked him to bring me. I just don't wear perfume anymore. But maybe if I had some fancy frou frou French perfume I would!
ReplyDeleteI think I would want him to bring home a nanny that cooks and cleans. That is what I would want or a really cool sweatshirt that says, "My husband went to France for 12 days while I was home with the kids and all I got was this lousy sweatshirt." Perfume is nice too though.
ReplyDeleteHow about that rat from "Ratatouille" that can be your gourmet chef??
ReplyDeleteOr some good chocolate.
Something from La Droguerie?
ReplyDeleteOooh good idea, Julie!
ReplyDeleteA gift certificate for an hour long massage at your local spa. (Hey, it's not French, but you can think about French stuff during the massage!)
ReplyDeleteThe phone was a great idea, someone called me from Europe once, they had to dial about 300 numbers then the phone would click.. click.. click.. then disconnect! Glad to have come across your page..
ReplyDeleteAn au pair.
ReplyDeleteFun for Carl though. I hope you're at least getting some frequent flier miles out of this so you can go somewhere cool too.
Nope. The university is taking care of his travel. Bummer.
ReplyDeleteWait, is everyone really suggesting that he bring home a maid/nanny?
ReplyDeleteWould she wear one of those short black dresses and a white apron?
If that happens you MUST post photos of Meeezz Adeline, dusting your tchotchkes, on the the blog. For Reals!
How about he brings home the nanny so I'll have time to be the one to wear the outfit!
ReplyDeleteI say chocolate and yarn...and the sweatshirt:)
ReplyDeleteI don't really like chocolate. Shocker, eh? Carl said he's going to bring some of that home for himself. I'm getting yarn!!! Woohoo! I sent him a link to a yarn store where he will be spending most of his time (Rouen) so he can get me some.
