Secret Pal 6 is about to start and I'm so excited! My last pal kind of fizzled out at the end and never revealed herself to me (during SP4) so I'm hoping this one turns out better. I had an awesome experience GIVING last time. So much fun! I can't wait to do it again. So, here is the questionnaire for this installment.
1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?
Now that I have been knitting with some of the higher quality fibers, I must admit that I love them! For a lot of the things I knit, function is most important so I don't mind using Lion Brand. Red heart? I could do without.
2. Do you spin? Crochet?
I have a drop spindle and some fiber that was given to me. I haven't taken the time to practice yet...but I plan on it. I just met the president of our area's spinner's guild so I think I may start going to their meetings. I crochet but haven't in a while. I haven't found any crochet patterns that have inspired me lately.
3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)
I hate smoke!
4. How long have you been knitting?
I've been knitting just over a year.
5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
Sure don't.
6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
I used to work at Bath & Body Works so I don't really need much bath stuff. I kind of stocked up. For candles, I like cinnamon apple and flowery scents. I'm not too big on vanilla.
7. Do you have a sweet tooth?
Not too bad. I'm not a chocoholic or anything. Although, I do crave See's Candies Nuts & Chews every once in a while. I like pizza more than anything, I think. And Bit o Honeys. Yum.
8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?
I stamp (mainly greeting cards), bead (a little bit...hard to do with two young kids), do a little needlework.
9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
I LOVE NEIL DIAMOND! I also like musicals (the happy kind--think Sound of Music, Mary Poppins...not Les Mis or Phantom). My computer can play mp3s. I also have an iPod shuffle and use iTunes.
10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?
I like jewel tones: burgundy, navy, deep green. I'm also getting keenly interested in more bold colors like turquoise, lime green, purple, and pink.
11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I have a husband (professor of mechanical engineering), a son age 2 1/2, a daughter age 6 months, and no pets.
12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)
I want my kids to grow up to be happy. I want to own my own home.
13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
I'm working on a sweater right now using Jo Sharp silkroad (wool/silk/cashmere blend) and it is by far my favorite so far.
14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I'm not a big fan of mohair. It has its uses but I don't like to use it much.
15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?
I guess I need to get started making sweaters for my brothers. I'm going to make them Quidditch sweaters for their favorite houses. Sam likes Hufflepuff because he thinks their Quidditch team is the best. Joe likes Ravenclaw because he likes birds and the color blue. I want to have them done by the time the next movie comes out.
16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
I've liked knitting almost everything!
17. What are you knitting right now?
A sweater, a pair of socks, dishcloths, a bag (thinking of giving this one up), and a child's scarf.
18. What do you think about ponchos?
No thanks.
19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?
I don't have a preference.
20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
It really depends on the project. I've knit with all of those kinds of needles.
21. Are you a sock knitter?
Yep.
22. How did you learn to knit?
I'm self-taught mainly. I did get some help from friends when I got stuck.
23. How old is your oldest UFO?
4 months
24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird?
I don't really have one. Or, at least I don't have one that is enough of a favorite for me to remember right now.
25. What is your favorite holiday?
My birthday (April 11).
26. Is there anything that you collect?
Fertility dolls and yarn.
27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
No subscriptions.
28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on?
Family Circle Easy Plus Size Knits and The Knitter's Handy Book of Sweater Patterns.
29. Any patterns you have been coveting, but haven't bought for one reason or another??
Just one. It's a kit. And it can be found here. I'm leaning toward the black or blue.
