Run! Run!

Yesterday I took Caleb to the doctor. We were in the parking lot waiting in the car because we were early. We were just listening to some music and I was observing.

A compact car pulled up beside us. We were parked as close to the door as you could get. It started to sprinkle. The mom in the car had a baby that was probably 4-6 months old. She got out of her car and started to get her baby ready to go in to the office. She put a jacket over the sweater the baby was already wearing. She put the hood up. She got one of those things that goes over the car seat where you can open a little peep hole for the baby. She put that on the car seat.

A mini van pulls up on the other side of us. By this time the sprinkles are turning into rain. This mom has a baby about the same age as the woman in the compact car. She also has four other kids. In no time all the kids, the baby and the mom are on their way to the door with the mom yelling, "Run! Run!". They all made it to the door...hardly getting wet...and in record time.

Meanwhile, the compact car mom lugs her bundled up babe with her overflowing diaper bag to the door.

I loved the contrast between these two moms and I could certainly see myself in one of them.

Are you a runner or a bundler?

Hurry up! Come on! Comment already!

  1. I am a converted runner. My bundler days are over. Poor Sariah. We just let her get wet.

  2. I am totally A runner! That means I am probably at the Doctor door while my kids complain and dodge traffic in the parking lot. If there is rain I grab Sam and go - no stroller especially to the Doctor.

  3. I'm usually a runner, but the last few days I've been running everywhere and my arm hurts from carrying Simon in his carseat, so I have grabbed the stroller so I can run faster!! I also HATE huge coats in the winter, it makes buckling, especially carseats a big pain. Sometimes we just grab a blanket for the car. . .

  4. I am a converted runner too. I never take a diaper bag anywhere and I'm trying to force my kids to keep wearing jackets and not their winter coats because jackets are faster and less bulky. It's beginning to get cold, but I refuse to get those winter coats out! I can definatly remember myself being a bundler mom, but my patience is running thin.

  5. Oh definitely run. I get angry at Eldon all the time for trying to bundle up when he's just got to run to the car and be fine!

  6. I'm totally a runner. My kids are not made of sugar - a little rain won't melt them!

I was a bundler who has quickly learned to be a runner. Throw a blanket over that baby and GO!

Run! You get home faster that way.

  9. I've become a runner. Emily is my biggest hold up so I have to get her advance notice so she can be ready and have herself bundled up when I say GO! I usually have a diaper bag, but I just leave it in the car in case I end up needing it no sense hauling it in everywhere.

  10. I'm sure I was a bundler with my firstborn, but I've become a runner since then.

  11. I'm a runner - most of the time, especially if it is pouring...

  12. Was Bumbler one of the options??
I try to run, but I drop the blanket in the mud. When I bend over to get it I dump the contents of the diaper bag in the puddle. I should have just bundled and walked!

Oh, we use an umbrella (be prepared!) and run. LOL

No babies in my house anymore since my youngest is 7 1/2!

'm definitely a runner. No reason to make more work for yourself, right?
