Gems of the Sea--a Pay Per Post

Oysters are the gems of the sea. Not only are they incredibly delicious, they make beautiful pearls. Have you ever thought how cool it would be if oysters could produce whatever you wanted? You could open an oyster and find diamonds, a new watch, or even Thin Mints! Yum.

There is a website that talks all about Gulf oysters and how to be "oyster aware". There are articles about how to avoid the transmission of vibrio vulnificus. Most healthy individuals can eat raw oysters with no problem but this website gives some advice on how to avoid getting sick from enjoying the gems of the sea.

As you can imagine, I don't get a lot of opportunities here in Nebraska to eat raw oysters. But, whenever I am visiting a coastal state---you will know that I am finding a seafood restaurant and eating as much seafood as I can handle!

This website also includes a section of recipes on how to prepare oysters (provided by the Mississippi State University researchers and Mississippi State Department of Marine Resources). They all look really yummy but I think my favorite (just from reading the recipes) would be Oysters Alfredo. They also have an entire recipe book available for download.
