Lifelong Learning

I just wrote and erased (on purpose) a big long post about why I think college educations are important whether you think you are going to use them or not.  I was thinking about it because I was reading through the visiting teaching message and thinking about this back to school season.  Instead I'll just leave you with a quote from the LDS (Mormon) prophet on the subject.

President Thomas S. Monson: “Beyond our study of spiritual matters, secular learning is also essential. … I urge you to pursue your education—if you are not already doing so or have not done so—that you might be prepared to provide if circumstances necessitate such.

“Your talents will expand as you study and learn. You will be able to better assist your families in their learning, and you will have peace of mind in knowing that you have prepared yourself for the eventualities that you may encounter in life” (“Three Goals to Guide You,” Liahona and Ensign, Nov. 2007, 119).

  1. I also like the quote from Brigham Young that says...
"You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a woman; you educate a generation."

  2. I am a HUGE proponent of education. As a mother, I think about the things I now want my daughter to accomplish in her life. A higher degree of education is on the top of the list. I can only imagine how strongly our Heavenly Father feels about this!

  3. How appropriate. I just got back from my first evening class! In approx. 2 years, you may start calling me "That one girl with the masters" :)
