Chicken.

I'm starting to chicken out on my cabinets.  I don't know what to do!  On the one hand, I really want to paint them.  On the other, I really don't want to do the work.  I'm not giving up yet.  I'm just not in a hurry to start ripping them apart and sanding.

Deb was awesome and used her amazing skills to show me what my very own cabinets would look like painted.  What do you think?

 Green cabinets (1)

Midnight blue

Here is the original for comparison:

  1. hmmm that is tough. If you had white appliances i would def say the blue. Not sure I love it as much as the other with your current appliances (which are fine, not a diss on the appliances)

  2. I like the original, just my 2 cents worth though. I'm more of a simple minded person, plus that's much easier and not as much work.

  3. If I was going to change anything, it would be the color of the walls behind the cabinets. Pick a color that will bring out the cabinets more rather than half blending half clashing with them.

i agree with Tana - walls are much easier to paint... and not saying you are or are not moving anytime soon - but funky colored cabinets could easily turn off a potential buyer- whereas changing the wall color is easy for new homeowners... okay, sorry, i watch way too much HGTV... have fun - no matter what you decide to do!

  5. I love the midnight blue with the yellow wall you already have, and then the black appliances blend right in, giving a cohesive look. You could maybe even do some yellow painted hardware on them or something to break up the blue.

  6. I still like the original.

I still like the original the best. Maybe go buy some really cool or fun or pretty handles? Spice up what you have??

  8. I think the blue looks better with the current wall color, but painting the wall a different color is another good option -- and less work as others have pointed out. I do like the green color better, but then you'd have to paint the walls, and the living room, and the dining room .....!

And how in the world did Deb change the color of the picture?? (Am I the only one behind the times technically?)

  9. Hold on one cottin-pickin second. You were never going paint those cabinets. It was all an excuse to showcase Deb's photoshop skillz.

How much would Deb charge me to photoshop my Match.com profile photo? I keep getting messages from the wrong type of men, ones with lots of ex-wives and tan lines on their foreheads from their hats.

  10. I would go with painting just the island for now if you do anything...I think the hardware is a nice option too.

  11. I think I like the dark blue best! But I do also think some of the other comments are a good idea too, instead of painting the cabinets, paint the walls. Tough choice!

  12. I prefer the blue one. I think it provides a good contrast in the room.

Gayla-It sounds like that would take more than my mad photoshop skillz!

  13. I just want to say that the blue was my idea and I like it. The green looks heinous with that wall paint.
