I Want It All

Sometimes I think I have it all under control. When this happens, I usually get humbled. Quickly. I'm at one of those times in my life where things are going pretty well. Of course, some stuff could be better. I wish I knew how to keep Caleb and Eva from physically harming each other (and me). I wish I could make the perfect yeasty dinner roll. I wish I could reach the top shelves. I realize I can't have everything and it is really okay because what I do have is pretty darn good.

Should I be anxious about what humbling experience is coming my way or just enjoy the ride?

  1. Enjoy the ride! Heavenly Father wants us to be happy while we're here. You don't know what the bitter is unless you know what the sweet is, too. Just remind me that I say these things the next time I have a crisis. :)

  2. I get that feeling too. Pre-anxiety? I'm glad things are going so well though. The older my kids get the more at ease I feel with my life. Hopefully things can only get better and better for us.

  3. I can't remember where I saw this said, but the grass may seem greener on the other side, but it still has to be mowed. Have you read the book "Tending Roses"? We just read it for book group, and it really made me think about what I have and what is really important in life. It's great for the messages. You have so many awesome talents and skills! You are very lucky to have what you have. That's all for now.

I vote for enjoying the ride. A wise woman once said, "Asking 'what if...?' is how to make yourself miserable about the future. Saying 'if only...' is how to make yourself miserable about the past." I do understand your feelings. I feel the same way now. When I was younger, I was more optimistic and somewhat naive about life's bumps.

  5. Be happy. Those moments when I think I have it all together rarely last longer than a few hours. So, if it can go for days, ride it while you can!

If you have a breadmaker...I have a yeasty roll recipe that I get GREAT reviews on. You can use the same dough to make cinnamon rolls too.
