Thanks to Audra for gifting me the tins to make this awesome advent calendar!
It has been my plan since last Christmas to make one of these advent calendars I saw on Splitcoast Stampers. My intentions were good. I just had poor planning. I didn't start it until November 30th. I mean, really. How hard could it be? I had all the supplies.
You see where this is going, right?
What I thought might take me an hour turned into a three evening process I know there were some smarter choices I could have made (did I really need to cut out each individual number that I hand stamped?) but, in the end, this turned out almost just like I had imagined. I'm good with it.
The good news is that the kids love it. Yesterday they got to pull off a couple of extra tins to catch up. They really want it to get to one. Caleb is still under the impression that we are getting a Wii. Unless there is some sort of Christmas miracle---this isn't happening. I hope he can be happy with what he does receive and that we can teach both kids more about the true meaning of Christmas.
Speaking of teaching kids lessons... have I mentioned yet that I'm one of the staff bloggers over at Family Eden? Warning: there is sound on this site so turn you speakers down a touch if you don't want a scare. Have you been there yet? It is a great community where you can interact with your family and friends in a safe and secure environment. I kind of look at it like Webkinz for families. I recommend taking the tour. You can set goals, join communities, shop, take e-learning classes, etc... The site just launched a few weeks ago and some kinks are getting worked out but I look forward to working with them. I will soon have a community called Crafting with Kids that I hope you all will check out. In the meantime, you can read the blog. My post on advent calendars will be up later today.

I love this. Maybe next year I could get it done.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Advent calendar!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your advent calendar! Really cute. I've been thinking about getting or making another one. (I like the one I have, but I keep it mainly for sentimental reasons, not because I think it's really cute.)
ReplyDeleteI understand the whole kids thinking they're getting something for Christmas that they're not. My boys are obsessed with this $140 remote control Fisher Price Dinosaur we keep seeing at the store. Sorry, not gonna happen boys.
Freakin' CUTE! Way to go! Thanks for the FamilyEden plug--it looks like a great site!
