OOH, good month to pick Journal of the Dead (a story of 2 campers that get lost in the desert and one kills the other--a murder or helping a friend die?) Maybe we should have bookclub outside in the heat of August??
ReplyDeleteI'm going to steal a few of these ideas for my book club. We pick our books no more than one month in advance, and we take turns picking. This month we're reading Life of Pi. Next month it's my turn to pick and I want to make everyone read The Thirteenth Tale, but they insist that I can't pick a book I've already read. If I haven't read it then how do I know it's so amazingly good that they should all read it?

ReplyDeleteAnne--We pick books that we've read all the time! In fact, one of our books has been a book club pick before but there are some new people (myself included) that haven't read it yet so we put it in again! The Thirteenth Tale was one of our favorites from last year so they should want to read it whether you have or not! just my humble opinion, of course!
I've read The Namesake and Eat Pray Love - enjoyed both very much. Didn't care for Eat Cake - couldn't finish it 'cause it was so corny.
